FROM FRAGMENTS TO TURTLE CORRIDORS
|
The main goal of this project’s scenario is to reconnect the fragments made by the trails, roads and highways by using a system of culverts and signs that warn park users and bypassers. When approaching a culvert at the turtle corridor at Highway 10, slow-down zones are constructed to minimize the mortality of turtles trying to traverse the roadway.

THE NEW ADAM LAKE CAMPGROUND
The future well-being of the painted turtles begin in the rearrangement of the Adam Lake Campground to better suit the needs of the turtle’s migration to larger lakes for mating. Currently, the Adam Lake Campground in the park is divided into 2 sections, with regular camping in the north and group/recreational vehicle camping to the south.
The proposal will move the group/recreational vehicle camping to the existing northern area of the site, where the recreational vehicle parking relocated to the current site of the tent area. The tent area will be moved immediately to the south, where an unused pond will be re-purposed into a swimming hole for its occupants. The paths within the campground will provide an easier circulation of vehicles and people. |
